Pier 50 Restaurant

San Francisco, California

The design of this unique family style restaurant draws its inspiration from the rich and historic structures of San Francisco's maritime & industrial fabric. Envisioning to  revitalize the city’s vibrant and sacred waterfront, the design breathes new life into an existing and abandoned restaurant,  formally known as Jelly’s A Dance Café. The new perforated metal skin reiterates the building’s industrial aesthetic and creates a glowing façade which at night visually connects the outside to the inside, uniting the street, the building and the waterfront. By day the industrial style sliding glass panels open this space to the exterior, while decks constructed from lumber reclaimed from nearby docks provide café & family seating with expansive views of the bay.
