Dennis Q. Sullivan

Dennis Q. Sullivan is the Director of Design of The Design Partnership. His experience in master-planning and design spans over 25 years and includes a wide range of nationally recognized healthcare, civic, justice, research, and children’s projects. He designed an urban garden and public promenade for the West Side Yards in Manhattan and currently is designing a public plaza with Lawrence Ferlinghetti in North Beach, San Francisco. His work has been published in many books and has appeared in many architectural magazines. His paintings, drawings and sculptures have been exhibited in numerous galleries and public institutions. He has taught architecture and art at numerous schools including community centers in rural Mississippi.

Dennis’ ultimate goal as a Designer is to create malleable designs that grow with the location, rather than merely share the same site. Similar to a living entity, he sees that successful architecture also possesses body, mind and spirit - the physical place with its earth, sunlight and view; a cultural place, the locus of the traditions of human intervention; and a spiritual place, that which we could call an evocative presence, which stirs our imaginations and sends us in search of images and memories.
